Beekeeping has for thousands of years been of utmost importance for Lithuanians. However, beekeeping today is very different from what it was in the past because new techniques of breeding and inspection, more innovative methods of processing of the bee products and increased scientific knowledge as well as its application have all made work of beekeepers significantly easier. On the other hand, beekeeping managed to hold on to its historic roots with respect for the bees, work in accordance to the rhythm of the nature and highly limited intervention in the natural processes still remaining fundamental principles of beekeeping. These principles also guide the activities of the members of our association.
In this association we seek to preserve deep-rooted traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation for centuries and strive for development of beekeeping. Therefore, the main activities of our association are guided by three central principles: education, entrepreneurship and development of beekeeping.
